Abstract

Nel suo celebre Commento alle Sentenze, il giovane san Tommaso d'Aquino inizia ad affrontare un problema che esaminerà per tutta la vita, quello della possibilità teorica di un mondo creato da Dio senza un primo istante temporale. La sua risposta è che la sola ragione filosofica non può decidere se ciò sia possibile o meno e necessita rivolgersi alla fede rivelata.

In his work Commentary on the Sentences, the young Saint Thomas Aquinas begins to address a problem that he will examine throughout his life, that of the theoretical possibility of a world created by God without a first temporal instant. His answer is that philosophical reason alone cannot decide whether this is possible or not and needs to turn to revealed faith.
